Ok y'all, I've had enough!
Indulge me on my Soap Box for a few moments on the issue of "Passing Judgement"
One of the most misquoted and misused phrases everywhere in the world might be "don't judge me" or "only God can judge me" (or something similar)
Many professing Christians and unbelievers seem to agree to NOT present themselves as being "judgmental"
Look at these CLEAR Biblical distinctions...
"...The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talks of judgment...."
Psalm 37:30
"...With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth...."
Psalm 119:13
"...Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy...."
Proverbs 31:9
Jesus encouraged Simon, saying
"...Thou hast rightly judged...."
Luke 7:43
"...Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? yea, thou shalt show her all her abominations...." Ezekiel 22:2
"...But he that is spiritual [spirit led] judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man [who is NOT spirit led]...."
1st Corinthians 2:15
"...Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?..."
1st Corinthians 6:2
"...Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?..."
1st Corinthians 6:3
Yes! God is our ultimate Judge! He is Lord, Ruler King and Most Holy of ALL, but the Bible is CLEAR about HIS desire for His Righteous/Royal Priesthood to JUDGE RIGHTEOUSLY in the world (with complete agreement and right standing with The Word of God).
When debating this issue with others, I always ask, "...How do you define Judgement?..."
Usually, I will get answers like, "to form an opinion" or "to draw a conclusion based upon a set of facts or ideas"
I typically respond with something like, "...you're passing judgement when you determine who to date or marry...." (according to this definition)
Furthermore, when you determine that a person is NOT judgemental, you have also passed a judgment!
In each case, you have formed an opinion!
I mean, just think about this... If no-one could pass any kind of judgment, there could be ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of determining what is right from what is wrong! Frankly, there would be no such thing as "right" or "wrong" whatsoever!
Your children would have to raise themselves, because you couldn't teach them what is bad/good.
We wouldn't even be able to determine if The Bible is Authentic or not... that would be considered "passing judgement" in the view of many!
If men (and/or women) came to your home to take your children out for some cookies and milk, you should let them go, because knowing who they are and their qualifications is "passing judgement"
You should NEVER care who you allow your daughters to date. If their dates beat 'em up, rape 'em, misuse 'em in any way, it's cool because you don't judge!
By now, I trust you can see how utterly STUPID this issue really is...
My question is, why are Christian People so afraid to stand up and assert themselves?
Why are we so intimidated by the world?
Why are so afraid to be called "bad names" and to BE DIFFERENT from the world?
All of this "politically correct" and "moral relativism" is becoming increasingly sick... All of this "...what’s good for you may not be good for me..." stuff is a bunch of horse manure!
If you READ Matthew 7 in its proper context, you will see CLEARLY the command of Jesus to actually Judge, but Righteously (according to Biblical Truth).
The SAME chapter that said "judge not" (verse 1), continues by saying, "...You will know them by their fruit...." (verse 16)
He first 5+ verses of Matthew was directed to those who do not live what they preach (hypocrites), but Jesus is instructing those who are living to please God, to JUDGE THE WORLD (read it).
Finally, we are to judge righteously. Jesus said,
"...Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment...."
John 7:24
We don't judge the very things we are doing ourselves!
"...And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?..."
Romans 2:3
The bottom line....
We are called to be Judges! So Judge in The Name of The Lord, The Righteous Judge!

Brother Roc, what a great bible study for those that don't know biblical truth. What an on point article to edify the believers today. The Church needs more backbone to stand up to the popular opinion & political correctness that exists in society today. Preach on my brother.... Preach on!
ReplyDeleteThank you my Brother! I appreciate your encouragement! Many blessings to you Man of God!
